Cryogenic tank container (ISO container) – is double-walled cryogenic tank for transportation of liquefied gases (oxygen, nitrogen, argon, LNG). Container consists of internal stainless steel tank and external carbon steel tank mounted into shipping container frame. A combination of vacuum insulation, so-called super-insulation, and the newest insulating materials is used as thermal insulation.
Cryogenic tank containers (ISO containers) are widely used for transportation of liquefied gases at multimodal transportations – by sea, by river, by road, and by railway.
These products received their name due to the fact that the vessel itself, pipelines, fittings, evaporator are placed in the frame of a standard marine 20 or 40-foot container. Such configuration immediately became popular because of its flexibility in the transportation. It also can function as stationary storage tanks in places where, for different reasons, construction of stationary stations, for example LNG stations, is unprofitable.
